G. P. Putnam's Sons, 1979. Hardcover. Very Good Plus. Berman was Humphrey's personal physician and this was his personal copy of the book . Book includes a facsimile of a note to him by Humphrey : "To Edgar-- my devoted friend.--my counsellor-- but most of all the friend I can trust and believe, with admiration and affection." Berman treated him until his death in 1977. This copy includes five items with original signatures by Humphrey : 1) A first day of issue postcard for the Spirit Of '76 stamp signed by Humphrey and pasted to the inside front board. 2) A photograph of Humphrey and his wife signed by Humphrey and pasted to the front endpaper. 3) A photograph of Humphrey signed by him and pasted to the verso of the front endpaper. 4) A note from Humphrey, signed by him, and pasted to the preliminary title page. 5) A photograph of Humphrey signed by him and tucked in here. In addition, the book includes an unsigned photograph and a Humphrey For President 1972 card,also not signed, each tucked in the book. A total of five original signatures here . The book itself is in excellent condition . Dust jacket is protected with a mylar cover .
