On the portfolio is printed: "A portfolio of six magnificent color prints reproduced with life-like fidelity to the rare originals by the famous 19th century ornithologist-artist, John Gould. Included are beautiful studies of the Great Forked Tail Humming-Bird, the Barbed Throat, Violet-Ear, Venezuelan Wood-Nymph, and the Purple-Crowned Fairy. These lovely prints are considered by connoisseurs as among the finest ever produced by the artist and the noted lithographer, H. C. Richter."
