Bound in black faux leather over red boards, stamped in gold and black. 255 pages, 12 unnumbered leaves of plates : illustrations, maps ; 20 cm, Distributed in the U.S. by Pleasant Valley Press. A rare book, even more so in this protected condition. translated by Tibe`re Kremer and Richard Seaver; with a foreword by Bruno Bettelheim. Map Endsheets. Dr. Nyiszli (1901-1956) was born a Jew in the Austro-Hungarian Empire trained as a physician in Hungary and in Germany. He was detained with his wife and daughter by the Nazis and sent to Auschwitz in 1944. Dr. Mengle, known as The Doctor of Death made Myiszli his pathologist examining those who were put to death. He and his family survived the camp. A doctor's autobiography about the attrocities he witnessed at the camp. Text in English.. Reprint. Hard Cover. Near Fine/No Jacket - As Published.
