This book is in Very Good condition and has a Very Good- to Near Very Good dust jacket. There is some dipping to the spine of the book, along with some light bumping to the spine ends. The text pages are generally clean and bright. The endpapers have some toning / yellowing. All edges of the text block have some toning and spotting. This copy has been signed by author Heinlein with an inscription notes it was signed at the 1976 Kansas City Worldcon. "In a - safe area - Johann Sebastian Bach Smith lies dying. The richest, perhaps the most powerful man in the world, he is past the point where medical science can do anything except preserve a spark of life in his desiccated body. Even the highest paid physicians are helpless. His only hope is a new body. A body is found. An operation is performed. Surgery is a success - medically." "Heinlein was named the first Science Fiction Writers Grand Master in 1974. He won Hugo Awards for four of his novels; in addition, fifty years after publication, five of his works were awarded "Retro Hugos"—awards given retrospectively for works that were published before the Hugo Awards came into existence." ; Signed by Author .

Description:
Foolscap Press, 2016. Hardcover. Fine. Hardcover. Number 16 of 100 copies. The Snails is a short story by Patricia Highsmith (author of The Talented Mr. Ripley) about giant snails with huge teeth that inhabit a remote island. When an out-of-shape professor decides to visit the island in hopes of capturing one of the snails in order to secure fame for himself, his plans go awry. A seemingly peculiar topic for a story, it was perfect for Highsmith who kept snails as pets and was known to take them to parties on leaves of lettuce in her handbag. The book is housed in a brick red cloth box with a cast-paper sculpture of a snail shell to the top cover. The book is bound in tan cloth with an illustration of a snail pasted down to the front cover. Within the folds of the accordion structure binding are smaller gatherings of pages, which include the text. Illustrations of snails roaming the island and encountering the professor are printed on the larger pages. An interesting structure, as is frequent with… Read More

A bit smoky, jacket edges rubbed, jacket lightly toned, 2 inch stain on reverse of jacket (not visible on obverse). 1970 Hard Cover. 401, [5] pp. 8vo. "Once again, master storyteller Robert A. Heinlein delivers a wild and intriguing classic of science fiction. Written at the dawn of the 1970s, this novel is the brilliantly shocking story of the ultimate transplant. As startling and provocative as his famous Stranger in a Strange Land, here is Heinlein's grand masterpiece about a man supremely talented, immensely old, and obscenely wealthy who discovers that money can buy everything. Johann Sebastian Bach Smith was immensely rich -- and very old. Though his mind was still keen, his body was worn out. His solution was to have surgeons transplant his brain into a new body. The operation was a great success -- but the patient was no longer Johann Sebastian Bach Smith.… Read More
