Our mission at Habitat for Books is to help our environment while working to end poverty. By passing books from one hand to another, we prevent them from landing in random landfills. Even more importantly, we keep ideas alive and circulating. For it is the ideas that live in books that inspire innovation, collaboration, development and change, and enrich our quality of life. The root of poverty is lack of exposure, is not being able to dream, is failing to see the many options and opportunities right in front of us, and lacking the power to those opportunities with foresight and drive. These modestly-priced books expose our readers to new ways of thinking and dreaming, and awaken them to vast possibilities. At Habitat for Books, we believe that when we resell a book, we are empowering and educating a person and, ultimately, a generation.
