An American joins the British Intelligence, takes on the identity of a German prisoner, and goes in his place to rejoin the German army in this poignant story of a friendship. Blankfort (1907-82) was an American screenwriter, author, and playwright who served as a front for the blacklisted Albert Maltz on the Academy Award-nominated screeplay of Broken Arrow (1950). He also served on the Board of Governors of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences from 1969 to 1971. Small octavo. Original red cloth binding, with gilt stamping. Some light wear and browning along the extremities of the dust jacket; else near fine.
