In a fine, unclipped dust jacket. 280 pages including an index, bibliography, chapter notes and text. Illustrated with a black and white photograph and reproductions of contemporary works of art. George Wythe was a signer of the Declaration of Independence and was "America's first professor of law." One of his students, Thomas Jefferson considered him a "second father". Yet Wythe was murdered at the age of 80 in 1806 in his Richmond, Virginia home. The trial which followed was this country's first "trial of the century".
