From the publisher

Pat Earnshaw's interest in lace began as a collector but she was soon involved in giving lectures and study days on the identification and other aspects of antique laces, not only in Britain but in frequent lecture tours in the USA, Australia and Europe. The Identification of Lace was her first book. Fourteen others have followed, all addressing issues of lace.

First line

The main groups of embroidered, needlepoint and bobbin laces existed, and vied with each other in fashion, through the sixteenth to twentieth centuries.

"I found this book a very easy and enjoyable read.  I am most impressed by the large number of beautiful and interesting lace photos...I feel that after reading this book I can also identify many forms of lace." - Tatting Tales (November 2009)
