Palermo: G. M. Mayda, 1576. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Fine. 1st Edition. Hardcover. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. Two parts in one. 4to (203x147 mm). [8], 312, [32] pp.; 205, [15] pp., woodcut device of Justice on title and on QQ6r, printer's device on cc4r, 3 full-page engravings in part 1 on t4v, S2v, CC2v, very minor browning and spotting. Contemporary vellum. An excellent copy of a rare work. ---- Durling 2547; Waller 5068; Wellcome I, 3417; Hirsch-H. III, 374. - First edition. Important account of the outbreak of the plague in Sicily in 1575/76 and the medical countermeasures introduced by the author. Ingrassia (c. 1510-1580) was an important anatomist, teaching at Naples, and a clinician: his work in Palermo was of great value in containing the outbreak of plague there. A Pars quinta was published in 1577 (see Wellcome I 3417), but this is not present here, nor in the British Library copy. It is similarly neither in the Waller copy, nor that described by Durling.

"In this book, real life photos are used to help young people feel more comfortable with interacting with other children and making new friends. A Note From Fred Rogers: A child's first visit with a pediatrician usually comes soon after birth. It may be months or even years later, though, that a child first shows fear about going to see a doctor. The worry of an injection or some other unfamiliar medical procedure can trigger that fear.
