Pages have mild tanning and foxing throughout, moderate at end-papers, paste-downs and text-block edges. Minor pencil marking to front free end-paper. Some occasional moderate cracking to gutters throughout, binding remains reasonably firm. Boards have moderate edge-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Cloth has moderate damp and dust stains. Mild crushing to spine ends. Book has a slight forward lean. Gilt lettering is darkened.

Crimson cloth boards, decorated gilt titles and design to spine, gilt rules, title and embossed gilt motif. pp. xxiii, 331 + 7, pub's adverts. With an armorial bookplate affixed to first blank, inscribed, "To Lee [?] Mirehouse from Mr Frederick Ingle, Christmas 1901." Almost certainly Frederick Ingle (1839-1912), a high profile architect who died leaving a large estate part of which continues to be run as the Frederick Ingle Charitable Trust. The plate has left an offset to the facing tp. Front hinge loose, former library label to front pastedown, library call number to base of spine, rubs to front cover edges. Pages browned, else a decent, clean copy.
