London: Methuen, 1940. First edition. Hardcover. Fine/very good. First edition. Hradcover. Green cloth with spine lettered in gilt. xix+220 pp; with index and with 80 photographic plates at rear picturig well over one hundred examples. Additional illustrations in the text. The history of Irish art from the beginning to its Christian era to the 12th century. The author shows how Christian art in Ireland developed partly from pre-existing Celtic art and partly from various importations from the Continent and the Christian East. Fine, hint of spne fade. In dust jacket, price clipped,with some shallow chipping to the head of the spine and rear panel, and some even soiling and rubbing to the tips.
