NY: Privately Printed, 1926. 1st edition. Limited to 250 copies. Printed on Dutch handmade paper by Frederic Fairchild Sherman. A study of the life and work of American landscape painter J. Francis Murphy (1852-1921.) Illustrated by a frontispiece portrait of Murphy and 11 plates with captioned tissue guards. Quarto, 10.25 x 7.5 inches. 63 pp. Cloth spine and paper-covered boards with gilt lettering. Top edge gilt. VG with some wear to lower corners, erasures to the blank front endpapers. Offsetting from the plates, despite the tissue guards. Lacking the original glassine jacket, but now protected by a clear archival cover Sound, tight binding. A nice copy overall. Provenance: Bookplate of William T. Cresmer (1876-1959), American advertising executive, noted art collector and patron.
