London / New York: J.M. Dent & Sons / E.P. Dutton 429 pp, 7" H. Deep red cloth with blind stamped emblem on front board, gilt lettering/decoration on spine, top edge brown. Pictorial endpapers, decorated title page. No date. Originally published in 1834. Born on the River Thames and never having set foot on land until the age of eleven, Jacob Faithful is left an orphan. Having obtained an education and an apprenticeship to Old Tom, a waterman, he makes his way through a variety of adventures, including being 'pressed' into the Royal Navy. Very light browning to pages - mainly in margins, small label from bookseller on rear pastedown with some colour offset on free rear endpaper, moderate browning to fore-edge and bottom of text block, minor lean to spine, minor soiling on bottom of text block, minor rubbing.. Reprint. Hard Cover. Very Good-/No Jacket.
