No edition stated, no mention of later printings, no ISBN on copyright or colophon pages. Dust jacket price-clipped, does not exhibit $3.95 price. Four-line colophon records BOUND BY The Book Press, N.Y. No mention of Charlie series at colophon or on rear DJ panel. JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH is his first book for children. Endpapers are green; text block tight, white, and flawless, Yellow page tops in fine condition.. Five full-page color plates and numerous other, smaller pastel or B&W illustrations throughout. Book spine retains full gilt lettering, Blind stamp of James surrounded by wreath on front cover. Borzoi Books rectangular hound blind-stamped bottom corner rear board measures 1 inch X 1/2 inch. DJ has been rubbed and some tears but intact. Book is in perfect condtion, bright red cloth binding.

Synopsis

James and the Giant Peach is a popular children's novel written in 1961 by British author Roald Dahl. The novel features an English orphan boy named James Henry Trotter cared for by his two abusive aunts. James finds a tunnel in a gigantic peach and enters into a magical world where he befriends seven bugs. He proceeds to embark on a wild adventure with his insect friends, getting into trouble and saving them from sticky situations. The book has frequently become the target of censorship due to its infrequent gruesome and potentially horrifying content. It was adapted into a film of the same name in 1996.

This is a First printing of the trade edition bound in green and black cloth with gold lettering on spine. Not an ex-library Edition or the school edition which can be identified by the red binding.

L'estampe Originale, founded in 1978 by Sandra Sofris Dolmatch, MFA, is a private art and antiquarian book dealer devoted to the research and selling of fine original prints, drawings, paintings, and sculpture- old master, nineteenth and twentieth century. It is a small company based on the traditional European model, that is to say with a medium sized and varied inventory embracing both major artists and minor, expensive and inexpensive. The list of writers, publishers and artists represented in our inventory is numerous, the techniques include a variety of drawings, etchings, engravings, aquatints, mezzotints, dry points, lithography, woodcuts, wood engravings, screen prints and a selection of mixed media.
