From the library of J.P.( Jacob-Peter) Mayer with his neat blind stamp on the front endpaper. J.P. Mayer (1903 -1992) was a writer and editor and founder of the De Tocqueville Centre at Reading University where he was Professor Emeritus. He was a leading figure in the anti-Nazi movement in Germany in the mid-1930s. He also wrote books on Max Weber, Pascal and French political thought. Including page of hand-written notes in the hand of J.P. Mayer
