The League, founded by newspaper publisher Valentine Stuart McClatchy, viewed Japanese immigrants as preparing the way for a potential invasion. Subtitle refers to the fact that this piece was published in Japanese translation in Yomiuri Shimbun to explain the pro-exclusion perspective.
