About This Item

London: Jonathan Cape, 1992. Hardcover. Fine/Fine. First edition, hardcover issue. Afterword by Whitney Balliett. Oblong quarto. Fine in just about fine dust jacket. Inscribed by the photographer to his close friend, the artist R.B. Kitaj and his family: "For my pals Max, Sandra & Ronnie. Love, Lee." A significant association between two American artists. Friedlander published a volume devoted exclusively to portraits of Kitaj: *Kitaj* (San Francisco: Fraenkel Gallery 2002).
