Jewish fairy tales, songs and legends collected and compiled by J.L. Cahan (1881-1961), who was one of the most prominent Jewish folklorists. Frontisportrait of Cahan. "Publications of the Yiddish Scientific Institute, Volume IX, Philological Series, Vol. V. Yiddish Scientific Institute, Department of Philology, Folklore Committee. " Small stamp "Printed in Poland' on English/Polish title-page. Heavy waterstaining and age wear on wraps. Chipping on head and tail of spine, tearing along joints on front and back wrapper. Pulling on edges of wraps. Waterstaining to lower edges and corners of first and last third of pages, not affecting text. Rippling to pages. Bottom edges bumped throughout first half of book. First 16 pages detached from book block. Table of contents and notes in English & Polish. Main text of work in Yiddish. Wraps in poor, interior in fair to good condition.
