First edition of Joseph Mallord William Turner by John Walker in the original publisher's cloth binding and unclipped dust wrapper. A beautiful study of the English Romantic painter, best known for his expressive colour use and imaginative landscapes. John Walker was an American art curator and the second director of the National Gallery of Art. Densely illustrated throughout with various in-text monochrome illustrations and fifty six colour plates. Collated, complete. Prior owner's ink inscription to the first free endpaper. In the original publisher's cloth binding and unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, excellent.
