A handsome reprint edition of Charles Darwin's account of his five-year voyage which included a stay at the Galapagos Islands, and published over 20 years before his notable "Origin of Species." With engraved illustrations by Robert Gibbings, and an introduction by Gavin de Beer. --- Bound in full green cloth-covered boards with titling and decorations gilt-stamped on spine; volume housed in green paper-covered slipcase. Possibly published c.1960s-70s (though 1957 date appears in volume). Sandglass flier laid in (Norwalk, no serial no.). --- A Near Fine copy: clean, bright and tightly bound but with a hint of sunning to spine. Slipcase with a little rubbing; is structurally sound.; Small Quarto - 9 to 11 in. tall; xvi, 489 pages .
