A novel set in the sleepy Southern town of Rocky Comfort and centering around the author's character, the itinerant preacher Semon Dye. This work followed the author's highly acclaimed 'Tobacco Road' and 'God's Little Acre'. --- In full tan cloth-covered boards with green and brown titling and decorations on cover and spine; publisher's blue topstain. Jacket with a Margaret Bourke-White photograph of Will Geer in the role of Semon Dye in the Broadway play production of this novel. --- With previous owner's bookplate affixed to front paste-down, otherwise a bright, firm, clean copy. Dust jacket bears original $2.00 flap price; has the numeral '4' in pencil on cover and with light edgewear; is otherwise nice and in removable archival mylar protector. ; Octavo - 8 to 9 in. tall; 234 pages .
