Pages bright and clean and free of marking, soiling or staining. Both volumes heavily illustrated. Top edges gilt. Other edges uncut. Both volumes bound in matching publisher's purple cloth with gilt lettering and signature of subject. Covers lightly sunbleahed and worn. A very good copy of this scarce biography of the author of The Battle Hymn of the Republic, with the fold out facsimile of the first draft.
