New York: Doubleday, Page & Company, 1906. 1st Ed, 2nd state. Very Good+. First edition, second state with February 1906 on copyright page; the "1" in 1906 is broken. Bound in green cloth over boards with the image of factories over the title and author on the front cover. Title, device, author, and publisher on spine. Some rubbing to white letters on cover and spine, but mostly intact. Light rubbing to edges and corners. Barely legible inscription on front endpaper by original owner (bought July 1906). An article clipping from The Publisher's Weekly with a copy of a letter fron Sinclair Lewis clarifying the order of printing between first and second state publishing where Sinclair Lewis argues that there is no clear way to define the difference. Text block is solid, slightly toned, but otherwise in near fine condition.

Synopsis
The Jungle is a 1906 novel written by author and journalist Upton Sinclair. This novel was intended to highlight the poverty and misery of the immigrant working class, but ultimately became more known as an expose of the American meatpacking industry during the early-20th century.
