Medium brown leather binding, spine with five raised bands, gilt decoration, black leather title label with gilt lettering, gilt borders to boards, gilt crest (Vniversitatis Collegivm Apvd Torontonenses) on front board. All eges marbled. Marbled endpapers. Title page continues: "With a Preliminary Essay, Notes, Fac-similes, &c.". B&w frontispiece, 5 fold-out facsimile letters. Junius' letters, written between 1769-1772, were an attack on Whig politicians of the day whom he believed to be guilty of corruption and immorality. He also wrote to make the public aware of their historical and constitutional rights as well as in the cause of democracy, and in support of freedom of speech and the press. Large contemporary presentation book plate on front pastedown with light foxing, light browning to pages and fold-outs, four fold-outs have some fold tears archivally taped (up to 2"), some waviness to top half of pages up to approx. page 160 more at beginning of book, foxing on preliminary pages and on the last few pages of book, light edge wear to boards, 1/2" high water stain across bottom of rear board.. Full-Leather. Very Good-.

Attractively bound in period 3/4 tan calf over marbled boards, spines with raised bands, contrasting, red, green, and brown morocco labels, and elaborate gilt floral tooling within gilt-ruled compartments (minor rubbing). Collected letters of Junius, one of the more influential voices in the UK advocating for reasonable treatment of the colonies during the runup to the American Revolution. Half title reads 'Bohn's Standard Library' (Bohn's were acquired by Bell & Daldy in 1864).
