The original (i.e. contemporary) aniline calf panels have been retained. Gilt-stamped decorative borders to panels, with inner gilt dentils. Panel edges somewhat dulled and rubbed as with age. Surface wear and rubbing to boards as with age. Bumped corners. Marbled endpapers. Some foxing evident around the titles, prelims. and plates. Otherwise, pages bright and clean. Junius is the pseudonymous author of a series of letters that appeared in the ""Public advertiser"" Jan. 1769-Jan. 1772, attacking among others the Duke of Grafton, Lord Mansfield, and George III. He is generally thought to have been Sir Philip Francis -- Oxford Companion to English Literatuire, 4th ed., p. 440.
