In 1875 they sailed for Ireland, returning to Australia again in 1889 with 8 children, a 9th child being born in Australia. Several fortunes were made and lost, and each child pursued his or her own interests, making their own mark on the world. Relatives live in Ireland and Australia." " Dr Brian Edmund Lloyd, who has died aged 84, was a distinguished engineer, educationist and ......also earned a notable reputation as a writer of social and local history....In 1978 his first local history book, Gold at the Ten Mile, tells of the social development of his boyhood home. He published many others over the next 30 years, as well as establishing Histec Publications, through which he helped many other people to have their own books published to preserve their family stories.
