Profusely illustrated and includes the 24 water colors from Walker's "Brown Follies." along with many illustrations from her exhibitions."Throughout the book is a selection of Walker's writings as they appear typed on index cards. These writings reveal a rarely seen side of the artist, whos words are as provacative as her installations and drawings" [jacket notes]. Interior is bright and clean. Cover has tiny bit of wear at corners due to size and weight. Book is in the publisher's dust jacket which has the same large stencil illustration as on the cover. [See my photo] Jacket is complete, no tears, etc. The white dust jacket has some very light soiling. Jacket is in a mylar protector. Shipped in box. Second printing.

Kara Walker was born in Stockton, California. She received an MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1994. In 1997, she received the MacArthur Foundation Achievement Award. Her work has been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Solomon Guggenheim Museum, and the Whitney. She is currently on the faculty of the MFA program at Columbia University.
