About This Item
New York: Farrar, Straus and Cudahy, 1955. First edition, first printing, 1955. Hard-to-find work of historical fiction written by the wife of Norman Price, a noted British journalist. Bright red linen cloth, with black spine lettering, 306 pages, color illustrated dustjacket. The book is in very good condition, looks and feels about new, despite a mildly rubbed top edge, sound text block, good hinges, clean pages with no name or other markings. The mylar protected dustjacket is not priceclipped and is also in very good condition with rubbed spine panel ends, and mildly chipped corners, less than a fraction of a percent paper loss overall. The story describes the powerful personalities in the Imperial Russian era of Catherine the Great and her nephew Peter, a physical giant who was ferocious in battle and insatiable in love. Then, of course, the book, also details Katrina, the Swedish peasant girl who becomes the greatest single influence in Peter's life, and his Russian Empress. . First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
