New York: Orion Press, 1962. First Edition. Signed by actor Ben Kingsley who played Edmund Kean in a solo play of the same name on Broadway in 1983. Illustrated. Near fine copy with the barest suggestion of edge wear in a lightly used dust jacket with some dust soiling, minor rubbing, and some small chips and tears. The biography of the English stage actor, Edmund Kean (1787 - 1833), who is regarded as one of the greatest actors who ever lived, known for his brilliant interpretations of Shakespeare’s works, including Richard III, Hamlet, Othello, Macbeth, and King Lear. Ben Kingsley has enjoyed a dynamic and diverse career as an actor, appearing in such acclaimed films as Schindler’s List, Sexy Beast, House of Sand and Fog, Oliver Twist, Searching for Bobby Fischer, and Gandhi for which he won an Oscar in 1982 for Best Actor for his portrayal of Mahatma Gandhi. He was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in the New Year's Eve Honors List in 2001.
