About This Item
Synopsis
Keep the Aspidistra Flying, first published 1936, is a grimly comic novel by George Orwell. It is set in 1930s London. The main theme is the protagonist's romantic ambition to give up money and status, and the dismal life that results.
Reviews
Gordon Comstock has vowed to never again bow down to the 'Money God'. He takes a job at a seedy book store and gleefully spirals slowly down to homelessness. Orwell's funniest book by far. A must read for Orwell fans.
