A really good clean copy. Koerner. Gilt lettered title/author panels. Fine, with very attractive pictorial boards lacking the rare dustwrapper. Bacheller was a reporter who founded the first newspaper syndicate in America in 1884. After selling his business he became a popular humorist and novelist and wrote several best-selling novels in the first decades of the century. FIRST EDITION of this automobile novel, with pictorial cover. Automobile fiction by this once popular author. Front cover shows a red auto whizzing by, frontispiece is captioned "A Duel with Automobiles" and suggests young bloods of the day engaging in the time-honoured sport of drag racing.
