Facsimile of "one of the most sumptuous Hebrew illuminated manuscripts in existence and a masterpiece of medieval Sephardi art Limited edition one of 50 'Ad Personam' copies, from a total edition of 550, with the publishers signed leaf, 2 volumes, 444 leaves, illuminations hand-gilded, all edges gilt, bound in elaborate blind-stamped russet morocco, commentary volume [6], 7-97 pp, housed in a contained in original velvet-lined cloth box with tab (tab a little frayed to edges), 4to (296*224 mm). Lavish facsimile edition of The Kennicott Bible. The manuscript was scribed by Moses ibn Zabarah and illuminated by Yosef ibn Haim in A Coruna in Spain in 1476, and was commissioned by Don Isaac Solomon di Braga, who took it with him into exile when the Jews were expelled from Spain in 1492. It is named after Benjamin Kennicott, a canon of Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford and Librarian of the Radcliffe Collection, who suggested the Radcliffe Trustees acquire the manuscript when offered for sale in 1771, when it was purchased from a Patrick Chalmers Esquire for £52.10.10d. The facsimile took five and a half years to produce and the gilding by hand, by seven artists took four months to complete.

CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS You may request to cancel a book order or return a book within 14 days of receipt of the book. A book may be returned for one of the following reasons: Item damaged: The item was damaged during shipping. Item not as described: The condition of the book does not match the description on Madoc Books. Incorrect item delivered: The title, cover or edition of the book is different than the title on the order. Item not received: The estimated delivery date has passed and the book has still not arrived. To cancel a book order or return a book simply contact Madoc with your order confirmation details and to obtain the return address.

DELIVERY DETAILS We ship all of our orders via Royal Mail. Orders are usually shipped within 2 or 3 business days. Shipping costs are based on books weighing 2.2 LB, or 1 KG. If your book order is heavy or oversized or a multiple in books we will contact you to let you know that extra shipping is required. Insurance costs are usually dictated by the shippers, should they be higher than normal, then we will contact you for your acceptance.
