Charles G.D. Roberts was a highly esteemed Canadian writer. He wrote poetry and novels, and perhaps his best work were the nature books - specifically wild animal stories such as this one. He considered Ernest Thompson Seton, a "fell ow of the Wild" and they shared a keen interest in "animal biography". In his introduction he traces the development of the modern animal story. He discusses early observers of wild animal life. The c hapters of the book are each short stories about a particualr wild animal. DJ has past-on coloured illust. of bull moose.
