Slipcase has a bit of soiling and rubbed along corners and edges, rubbed spot on front of slipcase affecting author's name and part of illustration - but not torn or split. The books are both two-tone brown with beige spines. Both clean and tight without writing or marks. Volume One has no tears or wrinkles. Volume Two has some closed tears and wrinkles to some of the index pages. Total of 838 pages. Research by Holland McCombs and Annotation by Francis L. Fugate. Beautiful illustrations on this thorough history of the legendary Texas cattle ranch which also bred top Quarter Horses and Thoroughbreds. including Triple Crown winner Assault. Full coarse linen binding stamped with the Running W Brand, linen slipcase with leather spine title label. This is known as The Saddle Blanket Edition, first edition, first state. Two Volumes. One of a limited edition of 3000 copies. Signed with an inscription by Belton Johnson, a King Ranch family member, one of 250 First Editions reoffered by The Book Club of Texas in 1992 to its members. Ten Appendices and Sources at the end of Volume 1 with a beautiful two page color map of The Ranch. Some faint staining to the outside of the slipcase, otherwise tight and clean.
