Along with the Cheyennes, the Kiowas were among the most feared of the Plains Indian tribes. The Kiowas were never completely conquered until the buffalo were destroyed and they lost their horses. This book tells of their history, how they lived, traces the development of their unique pictographic calendars, relates what their chiefs and warriors said and did, and shows their women and children at work and at play.
