His search was from a lost community, one that had vanished along with members of his family when the German army swept into Poland in 1939. -- drawing on archives as well as of testimony, interweaving past and present, Konin is at once a recreation in minute detail of a world that is gonefor ever, and immensely moving story of lives caught up in the sweep of history, and the tale of one man's consuming obsession. -- front fold over blurb.
