About This Item
Grosset & Dunlap, New York, NY, 1972, 1972. Hardcover. Collectible, Fine/No Jacket. William Bartlett and Harry Michaels. Folio, hardcover, fine, like new, in blue pictorial boards. A gorgeous book, particularly if you love collies. Almost like new, well preserved from 1972. Pictorial endpapers, 61 pp. with wonderful b & w and color illustrations by these well known illustrators. First published in 1919; The hero is an extraordinary collie named Lad, "a thoroughbred in spirit as well as in blood." In each tale, Lad exhibits his pure strength of character as he fights off burglars, rescues an invalid child from a poisonous snake, wins ribbons in dog shows, and otherwise leads a dog-hero's life.
