Has writing and dootling inside front cover and on first blank pages, with some pencil underlining and check marks in the text, most of the text appears clean, pages are no longer white and crisp, but have aged with time. Original black embossed cloth boards, with Lady Of The Lake Embossed on front cover, with fancy scroll work below title Original Cover is in nice condition with light wear, . Minor bend / crease to cover. Inside hinges show age and some wear with some pulling on front hinge and also has a pull on rear hinge. Hinges are intact and the covers are intact. Spine head and base show minor wear wear. Spine looks good. . Some normal handling wear. Artwork on cover under the title on the front covers. book dedication reads To the most Noble James Marquis of Abercorn. Rare/scarce rm #239. 330 pages including notes, map and ads. Synopsis

The Lady of the Lake marked the pinnacle of Scott's popularity as a poet. With 25,000 copies sold in eight months, it broke all records for the sale of poetry. Known as a romantic poem, it tells about love and honor amidst a bitter rivalry between King James V and the Douglas family. The book is set in the Trossachs region of Scotland and  it is composed of six cantos, each concern the action of a single day.
