New York: Alfred A Knopf, 1943. Solid copy. First published in 1925 by this publisher, this is the first printing in the Alblaboks ediiton which features covers designed by W. A. Dwiggins. Alblabooks was a a small subset of books of literary merit that Knopf was involved with. Unmarked, pretty tight , hint of spine lean. Light wear at spine ends. Price intact jacket ($2.50) sunned on spine with two short closed tears and some short creasing. In mylar. . Alblabooks Edition . Hardcover. Very Good Minus/VG Minus. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
Synopsis
André Gide was born in Paris in 1869 and died there in 1951. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1947. His works include The Immoralist, The Counterfeiters, Strait is the Gate , the autobiography If It Die . . . , and three volumes of Journals . He also wrote plays, essays, short stories, and books of travel.
