About This Item

New York: George H. Doran Company, 1926. First Edition. Hardcover. Very good. The first American edition of this Professor Challenger story, which was heavily influenced by Doyle's growing belief in Spiritualism after the death of his son, brother, and two nephews in World War I. Octavo. Original green cloth binding, with black stamping. Small ink stamp to the rear pastedown. The spine is sun faded, with a bit of light wear to the corners and tips; otherwise very good.
