8vo. London: Lawrence and Bullen, 1891. 8vo, (i-vii), viii, (1)-259 pp. With seven full-page engravings and numerous vignettes by A. D. McCormick. Blue cloth with gilt backstrip and green coated endpapers. Corners bumped, page edges a little browned. Small loss to top margin of p. 129 due to the signature being improperly cut. § First edition. In 1876 travel writer and novelist Morley Roberts (1857-1942) took steerage passage to Australia to work on sheep stations in New South Wales. Here he recounts amusing stories of the voyage out and of his survival in the bush. Ferguson 14957.
