This verse drama deals with a family's quarrel over the naming of a son, Shenandoah Fish, which is obviously analogous Schwartz's name, about which he was quite sensitive. Inscribed to the poet Theodore Morrison. "Ted, from Delmore, October 1941." Illustrated by Frederico Castellon. Printed by George Hornby at The Domesday Press, New York City. 28 pp. 8vo., plain paper wrappers, wire saddle stitch. In a dark blue dust jacket, illustrated on the upper wrapper in grey-blue. Internally clean and fine; however, the dust jacket is sunned at perimeters and on the lower panel, with some light edgewear. Inscribed copies by Schwartz are uncommon, and this is a very good copy, inscribed by him.

New York: Lyle Stuart / Loujon Press Award Book, [1965].. Quarto. Pictorial stiff wrappers. Illustrations by Noel Rockmore. About fine, but without the bellyband. First edition. One of 3100 copies printed in New Orleans at the Loujon Press, signed and dated by the author ("3-20-65"). There were also several subvariants of various deluxe natures. Three old vertical folds, strip of residue from former mat tape along extreme top edge verso, otherwise very good. Whitman writes "Dear M.P.," forwarding manuscripts of poems [not present] for consideration for publication: "...This is the best I can do for yr request -- The pieces have not hitherto been publish'd [insertion: 'at all'] but are to be [insertion: 'finally'] included in the [insertion: 'vol. to come'] little & out (such 'out' as it may be probably small one) in ab't three weeks or longer -- If Mr R can publish them before it will do & the proprieties conformed to - the price is $10." Below the body of the letter, the following appears in underlined bold in Whitman's hand: "New Poetry by Walt Whitman." One small area of loss (finger nail sized) to the bottom inner margin of one page, well away from the printed text, and a few finger marks but otherwise a very good copy. Finely bound in recent full dark blue morocco leather. Spine with raised bands. Compartments ruled and decorated in gilt. Twin red labels, gilt. Single gilt ruled border to both boards. Top edge gilt, others untrimmed. An attractive copy of this charming book.

New York: Ecco Press, 1975. First Edition. Hardcover. Very good/very good. Octavo, 42pp. A very good copy, crisp and clean, with the spinea tinge cocked and the very top edges gently sun-faded. In a very good dust jacket with a couple short closed tears, and some droplet stains to the rear panel. This copy SIGNED and INSCRIBED by Gluck on the leaf opposite the half-title to fellow author and literary critic David Madden: "For David, with warm wishes. Louise Gluck." Madden's ownership signature appears on the front free endpaper, as does the previous owner, fellow North Carolina poet and author [Katherine] "Bonnie" Soniat. Gluck's second book is scarce in the first printing, especially signed, and particularly in the time since Gluck was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2020.
