Hodder & Stoughton, London, 1946. First Edition. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Good Condition/Poor. Light blue coloured boards with black coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. Illustrated dustwrapper, showing a ship sailing, with blue and black coloured background with yellow and black coloured titles to the front panel and yellow coloured titles to the back strip. A novel about British coaster tramp (merchant ships) company. Bumping to the corners of the book, the top front corner particularly bumped. Shelf wear evident to the top and bottom edges and its head and heel of spine is also affected. Dust marks to the top paper edge and and there is a stain on the bottom paper edge. Gift inscription on the free front end page, and bookseller's sticker on the front paste down. Browning to the internal pages. The dustwrapper is almost in component parts, though now protected with the library sleeving. Rubbing and fading to the dustwrapper has occurred and there are tears and chips to all edges. The top one third and of the lower one-quarter of the spine is missing, as is the top right-hand corner of the front panel and also a piece near the top spine gutter, and the top back corner is also missing off from the dustwrapper.
