A very pretty copy, bound in full contemporary gilt-paneled green chagrin, spine richly gilt, all edges gilt, gilt inside dentelles, green silk endpapers (occasional light foxing). First Edition. The work begins with an general introduction to the laws of ornamentation, and proceeds to discuss colour, hairstyling, clothing, and jewellery. Most of the illustrations depict male and female hairstyles, female attire and accessories (fans, parasols), laces, brooches, necklaces and other jewellery. Colas 338. Lipperheide 3276.
