Hardcovers are half-bound in brown leather over marbled boards; leather has ruled borders. Five raised bands on spine with gilt rules. Leather spine labels are missing, but the impressions in the underlying leather of the spine are still readable. Leather is worn at spine edges and corners, with boards peaking through at the corners; surface of leather has some pulled areas. Volume 2 has a small puncture to the spine. Hinges partially cracked but still strong and functional. Covers have moderate edge wear and surface rubbing. Name in pencil on front free endpaper of each, dated 1869; additional bookseller notation on endpaper of vol. 1. Endpapers tanned at edges. Pages clean and unmarked. 518 + 516 pages. No dust jackets. Half-title: Novels of Sir Edward Bulwer Lytton. Library edition. Historical Romances, vols. XVII and XVIII. Carefully packed, shipped in a box.
