About This Item
New York: Henry Holt, 2010. Book. As New. Hardcover. First Edition.. First edition, this controversial book was recalled by the publisher because of alleged inaccuracies in the author's research. True first edition, first printing as indicated by the number string on the copyright page. A revised edition is in the planning but not yet issued. Pellegrino's source for material parts of the book was a flyer who was never really on the bombing mission. The source, Joseph Fuoco, told Pellegrino that he'd been a last-minute replacement on an observation plane tracking the bomb for engineer James Corliss, who had fallen ill. But Fuoco, who died at 84 in 2008, never did anything of the sort. Corliss had neither fallen ill nor ceded his spot on the flight. Worse, engineers at Los Alamos, N.M., dispute the claim that any nuclear accident had taken place before its detonation. Never opened, never read. Only about 7000 copies of this book have been sold before retailers returned the original copies to the publisher. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
