Soft cover bound in original pink printed wrappers. The wrappers show wear and have sunning about the edges and soiling from handling. A sound copy. Signed in pencil at the top of the front wrapper, "J. A. Jarratt" or "S. A. Jarratt." Now housed in a removable board back plastic sleeve. The text block is sound, and the text is a bit toned and has just a little sporadic foxing. Bartholomew Figures Moore (1801-1878) was a North Carolina attorney and politician and was largely a Union loyalist during the Civil War He was born in Halifax County and graduated from UNC in 1820 and was a trustee of the University 1840-1868 and then again from 1871 until his death. Each volume comes with a thick paperback Supplement inserted at the rear (bound with this in mind; the binding allows for the inserts which are about 200 pages a piece). Volume I bears the imprint date of 1957. Volume II is 1959. Volume III is 1960. And Volume IV is 1961. The Index is for Volumes 200 to 254. The Index is only 4 volumes itself. Scarce.

Hardcover bound in 3/4 brown leather with brown marbled paper-covered boards. The binding is worn but sound. The leather is starting to get dry but is still holding. There is a little splitting to the leather on the rear outer hinge near the foot of the spine. A sound copy with secure inner hinges. Untrimmed fore edge has some brown stains that stay on the edges of the margins. A couple of handwritten dates are written in pencil on the last page of text. Contains several illustrations, mostly portraits.
