A compilation of biographical sketches of 17 artists working in Bangor in the second half of the 19th Century, including portrait painter Jeremiah Hardy, his sister, Mary Ann Hardy, his daughter, Anna Eliza Hardy and two of his female students, Isabel Graham Eaton and Florence Whitney Jennison. Also George Savary Wasson. Some spotting on boards, contemporary gift inscription on free front endpaper, a date stamped on rear paste-down. VG.
