Binding tight. Hinges NOT cracked. Corners and spine ends bumped and rubbed, with some fraying at tips and spine ends. Half-inch tear to the outer covering at top of the back cover at the spine; also separated from the board along most of the top edge. Approximately an eighth of an inch missing from the head of the spine and corners rubbed through. Covers have light surface and edge wear, with light scratches. Pages lightly and uniformly tanned but still supple. Pages clean and unmarked. 601 thin bible-paper pages. Also includes "Miscellaneous Sketches Contributed by Thackeray to Punch" at end. No dust jacket. Carefully packed, shipped in a box.
