FIRST EDITION BOUND FROM THE PARTS. 1 vol., 8-3/4" x 5-3/4", mixed issue, of the two critical issue points "latter" at p. 160 is present, but "visiter" at p. 123 is not (these 2 issues points are seldom found together), illustrated by Phiz. Bound in 1/2 contemporary green morocco, ribbed gilt decorated spine, all edges gilt, frontis portrait plate, general foxing to plates throughout but not terribly so. Inner and outer hinges fine, head and foot of spine fine, overall a VERY GOOD copy.
Synopsis
Nicholas Nickleby is left responsible for his mother and sister when his father dies. The novel follows his attempt to succeed in supporting them, despite his uncle Ralph's antagonistic lack of belief in him. It is one of Dickens' early comic novels.
